Upon demand at the touch of a single button, a superautomatic machine grinds a single cup portion of coffee beans, doses, tamps, and forces hot water under high pressure through the coffee grounds now packed inside the machine’s brewing chamber. The pressure-brewed coffee flows from an external outlet into the waiting cup. At the end of the brew cycle, the spent coffee is ejected from the brewing chamber into an internal holding bin known as the dump box, and the machine is ready to make the next cup. The high brewing pressure extracts full flavor and aroma from the coffee, but since the water is in contact for such a short time, bitter and other undesired tastes are left behind. While the coffee is strong in flavor, it even contains less caffeine than drip coffee. Many fine European restaurants and hotels serve only pressure-brewed coffee from superautomatic coffee machines. Switzerland pioneered the superautomatic technology, where Jura and Capresso produce their wonderful superautomatic coffee machines to the delight of their many customers around the world.
